Longhorn Cattle in Texas are symbols of Texas itself. You can’t help but think of one then the other. This image is a typical-looking Longhorn, with wide horns, and a lean body. There is an excellent article at Texas.gov that gives you basic information. Colors on longhorns are typically thought of as white with red or orange mixed in, but they can be lots of different colors.
They are known for their long horns, which can grow up to seven feet in length. Longhorn cattle are used for a variety of purposes, including beef production but most people that have them now are keeping some as pets, or yard ornaments.
This photo, like a lot of mine, started out in color but ended up in black and white. Processed in On1 Photoraw, then black and white completed in Nik software Silver efex pro.
